ISLAMABAD, August 5, 2026 – The Government of Pakistan has officially revised the prices of petroleum products, with the new rates taking effect from today (August 5).

According to the official notification, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 3.39 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs 328.56 per liter. Similarly, diesel has been reduced by Rs 4.07 per liter, with the new price set at Rs 385.86 per liter.

It may be recalled that just a day earlier, petrol and diesel prices had been reduced by Rs 4.8 and Rs 2.45 per liter respectively. The second consecutive reduction in fuel prices has been welcomed by the public.

Economic experts attribute this decrease to a drop in global crude oil prices and stability in the Pakistani rupee's value against the US dollar.

Consumers have termed this a positive step toward reducing inflation, while the business community has called for similar reductions in the prices of other essential commodities to provide comprehensive relief to the public.
