QUETTA, August 5, 2026 – The Balochistan Assembly session commenced today under the chairmanship of Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai. The proceedings began with the recitation of Fateha for the martyrs of recent terrorist incidents, including Hana Orak, Ziarat, Sorenj, and attacks on laborers.
The session turned highly charged over the murder of Asma Jatak's father in Khuzdar. Provincial Minister Ali Madad Jatak and Opposition Leader Younas Zehri staged a walkout from the assembly in protest against the incident.
Ali Madad Jatak stated that two days have passed and an FIR has not been registered yet. He expressed severe anger over the authorities' slow response in investigating the case.
On this occasion, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch said that everyone knows the killer of Asma Jatak's father, but no one is naming him. He demanded the resignation of Home Minister Zia Langau, saying that the killer should be arrested, questioned why the SSP Khuzdar was being summoned, and stressed that the police should do their job.
Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai took notice of the situation and summoned the Inspector General of Police, DIG, and SSP Khuzdar to the assembly tomorrow to brief the house on the incident.
It is noteworthy that Asma Jatak was kidnapped two years ago, and her father, Inayatullah Jatak, was shot dead by unidentified armed men yesterday (Tuesday) in Shahzad Town, Khuzdar. A day earlier, Asma Jatak had released a video on social media making serious allegations regarding her abduction and the threats received by her family.
