QUETTA, August 4, 2026 – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed deep concern today during a press conference in Quetta over the lack of governmental writ in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that Pakistan, particularly Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lacks effective government writ, and the situation is such that people are unable to travel to their own areas . He emphasized that the country must be run in accordance with the Constitution, and the solution to all problems lies in the Constitution itself. He lamented that Parliament's importance has diminished, and that no government should be imposed on the people by force.

On the issue of creating new provinces, he termed it an administrative matter but questioned: "Is the country meant for creating new provinces?" He stated that provinces cannot be created by cutting a cake, stressing that the people must be asked whether they want a new province or not .

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also spoke on the situation in Kashmir, saying that the people of Kashmir are calling out to us and the situation there is not improving.

Commenting on the political situation, he acknowledged Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the Leader of the Opposition and noted that he is not just a leader of one region . He advised Mahmood Khan Achakzai to convene a meeting of the opposition.
