ISLAMABAD, August 4, 2026 – The prices of petroleum products are likely to witness another reduction today (Tuesday), with new rates set to take effect from August 5. According to media reports, the price of petrol is expected to decrease by Rs 3.39 per liter, while diesel is likely to be reduced by Rs 4.7 per liter.

Sources indicate that the new price of petrol is expected to settle at Rs 328.56 per liter, whereas diesel is estimated to drop to Rs 385.86 per liter after the reduction.

It is worth recalling that the government had already announced a decrease in petroleum prices just a day earlier, reducing petrol by Rs 4.8 and diesel by Rs 2.45 per liter.

Economic experts attribute the consecutive price drops to a decline in global crude oil prices and a slight improvement in the Pakistani rupee's value against the US dollar. Consumers have welcomed the development; however, the business community has called for a broader reduction in the prices of other commodities to effectively combat inflation.
