QUETTA (Special Correspondent) – Mobile phone services and mobile internet data services are likely to remain temporarily suspended in Balochistan tomorrow (Wednesday). According to sources, relevant authorities have finalized arrangements for the service suspension.

Sources indicate that the decision to temporarily suspend mobile services across the province is being made in view of security arrangements for the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal. Previously, mobile services have been suspended during religious occasions and sensitive events to prevent any untoward incidents.

According to officials, mobile phone services will be suspended from tomorrow afternoon, while internet data services will also remain unavailable. However, fixed-line and Wi-Fi services are likely to be maintained.

The suspension of mobile data will affect packet net services and mobile internet, impacting digital businesses and social media. Citizens have been advised to download necessary data in advance and use alternative means such as Wi-Fi.

Human rights organizations have expressed concerns, stating that internet shutdowns could cause significant losses to the digital economy and the public. However, the administration maintains that this step has been taken for public safety and will be limited in duration.
