ISLAMABAD (Special Correspondent) – To further strengthen security arrangements in the federal capital, the federal government has summoned a total of 23,500 police personnel from the provinces.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, 15,000 police personnel will be sent from Punjab, 8,000 from Sindh, and 500 from Balochistan to Islamabad. All three provinces have been directed to deploy the required police personnel in Islamabad by September 20, 2026.

The personnel have been requisitioned by the federal government for "security and related duties" in Islamabad. However, the notification does not mention any specific threat, incident, or operation that necessitated such a large deployment.

According to sources, this deployment is being made in view of possible high-profile events, political gatherings, and rising security concerns in recent weeks. This is one of the largest examples of inter-provincial police deployment in several years.

Earlier, the Punjab government had imposed Section 144 across the province in view of possible terrorist threats.
